1. Program Development and Implementation:
· Work closely with children and junior youth ministry comm chairpersons for the planning, organizing and executing of weekly Sunday school classes and activities.
· Collaborate with ministry leaders to plan and execute engaging programs and activities tailored to children and youth’s spiritual, emotional, and social needs.
· Develop age-appropriate curriculum, teaching materials, and resources to facilitate meaningful learning experiences.
· Work with the pastor(s) and ministry chairpersons to review and recommend curriculum changes.
· Prepare children to transition to youth ministries and help them integrate.
2. Spiritual Guidance and Mentorship:
· Build relationships with children and youths, providing counselling, support, and mentorship in their faith journey.
· Connect with the minister to parents where needed.
· To develop effective strategies to engage parents to raise awareness of the Church School/Junior Youth School as well as their participation in the ministry;
· Foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and acceptance, ensuring every child and youth feels valued and supported in their unique identity.
3. Volunteer Recruitment and Training:
· Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to serve in various capacities within the children and youth ministry.
· Provide volunteers with ongoing support, supervision, and encouragement, equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to effectively minister to young people.
· Plan and organize parent-teacher meetings and encourage parents to participate in the children and youth ministry as appropriate.
· Initiate and organise training and development for Church school teachers so that they are kept abreast of the latest teaching materials and methodology.
· To work with the Church School Principal to encourage teachers to attend suitable courses or workshops.
4. General duties:
· Perform assigned congregational duties and ensure a smooth flow of service logistics and operations support.
· Conduct the weekly Sunday School / Junior Youth classes with assistance from the teachers and helpers in the Ministry.
· Maintain accurate records of attendance, program participation, and volunteer involvement.
· Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and church leadership regarding upcoming events, program updates, and important information.
· Assist in the planning of the yearly programmes and budget. Project and maintain the ministry’s annual plan and budget.
· Church representative in the Chinese Annual Conference Board of Children / Junior Youth ministry and for any events organised by it.
· Any duties assigned by the Pastor-in-Charge or ministry chairpersons.
· Education level: Tertiary (and above, preferably with a Theological Degree)
· Previous experience working with children or youth ministry setting is highly desirable.
· Preferred 1 to 2 years of prior experience in a similar capacity.
· Bilingual in both spoken and written languages (English and Mandarin).
· Have a pastoral heart, good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
· Good organisational skills and resourcefulness.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently.
· Willing to work on weekends.

As a member of the Queenstown Chinese Methodist Church ministry team, your primary responsibility would be to provide executive and pastoral support for the Discipleship & Nurture (D&N) Ministry. You will work closely with the Pastor-in-Charge and the D&N Committee to steer, direct, and grow the ministry in accordance with the church’s strategic direction.
You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing various courses and programs for the congregation. Your role will involve identifying and developing a curriculum that enables people at different stages of life and spiritual maturity to be grounded biblically and grow to the full stature of Christ.
· To work closely with church leaders and the Discipleship and Nurture Chairman to develop an overall plan for the growth of discipleship among church members at various stages. To steer, direct, grow, and develop the ministry in alignment with the church’s direction.
· Understand the needs of members and suggest appropriate training to support them. Design a training program for ministry groups, adult church schools (weekdays and Sundays), and congregations. Monitor and evaluate the training support system and regularly review the training materials, suggesting improvements.
· Plan and execute/build discipleship programs/resources according to the church’s direction. Facilitate courses such as Disciple classes, Companion in Christ, Baptism and Membership Classes for the congregation. Source and recruit participants for training to be potential instructors.
· Coordinate with external trainers/speakers.
· Recruit, engage, and develop relationships with volunteers.
· Disciple and shepherd the volunteers supporting the ministry.
· Participate and collaborate in staff meetings, D&N trainings, and events.
· Identify, develop, and/or select small group curriculum and study materials, including overseeing/preparing Sunday sermon reflection questions for small group discussion.
· Oversee the administration and running of the D&N ministry.
· Assist in the planning of the yearly programmes and budget. Project and maintain the annual plan and budget of the ministry.
· Provide pastoral care and support in the church.
· Undertake other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Pastor-In-Charge such as attending to walk-in visitors, teaching or preaching sermons and others, as required.
· Theological diploma/degree from accredited institution/seminary, or related experience.
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
· Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and execute programmes and events with strong time management & relational skills.
· A servanthood heart to serve the Church members, committee members, volunteers, staff team members and others.
· Good organisational, communication (oral and written) and people skills.
· Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
· Pro-active, responsible, dependable, and meticulous.
· Ability and willingness to work non-traditional schedules, which include evenings, public holidays and weekends.
· Able to work independently.
· Willing to go the extra mile for the ministry without seeking returns.
