Expanding Our Vision (扩展视野)

刘得恩

“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)

When reading the verse above as city dwellers, the best mental image we might muster is that of a bird picking aimlessly at the grass, or a pigeon picking scraps from refuse. Those mental images facilitate an understanding of God as a miserly provider.

Jesus invites us to consider the birds of the air. Perhaps we can consider a heron, with a hulking fish in its beak, and understand that our God provides for us richly.

A Permanent Exhibit (永恒的展览)

林福兴

As I look at this exhibit (览), I was reminded of how the things of this world are transient. The beautiful things that you see today may be gone tomorrow. Very few things stand the test of time.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever (Isaiah 40:8).

Now consider God’s enduring word as an exhibit. Isn’t it extraordinary how God’s word has been preserved and persisted for centuries? Isn’t it amazing how His word remains relevant and unchanging? And since His Word does not return to Him void, we can trust that God will fulfil all that He has promised.

May we develop a deeper appreciation of God’s enduring word and may His word give us strength to endure every passing day.
